Hendersonville, North Carolina Description
Hendersonville, North Carolina is a small city located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina. It is situated about 22 miles south of Asheville and is the county seat of Henderson County. The city has a population of around 13,000 people and covers an area of 8.3 square miles.
The city was founded in 1847 and named after Leonard Henderson, a prominent local politician. It quickly grew into an important commercial center for the region, with many stores, banks, and other businesses opening up in the downtown area. Today, Hendersonville is known for its vibrant downtown area which features many unique shops and restaurants as well as a variety of cultural attractions such as art galleries and museums.
The city also offers plenty of outdoor activities for visitors to enjoy. There are several parks located throughout the city including Jackson Park which features a lake with paddleboats and fishing opportunities as well as walking trails and picnic areas. Other popular outdoor activities include hiking, biking, camping, golfing, horseback riding, and more.
Hendersonville is also home to several annual festivals such as the Apple Festival in August which celebrates the region’s apple harvest with live music, food vendors, arts & crafts booths, and more. The city also hosts the North Carolina Mountain State Fair every September which features carnival rides, livestock shows & competitions, live entertainment & music performances, food vendors & more.
