Clayton, NC is a small town located in Johnston County, North Carolina. It is situated about 25 miles southeast of Raleigh and is part of the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill metropolitan area. The town has a population of around 17,000 people and is known for its historic downtown area, which features many unique shops and restaurants.
The town was founded in 1869 and was named after John Clayton, who was a prominent local politician at the time. It has since grown to become one of the most popular towns in the area due to its close proximity to Raleigh and other nearby cities.
