Burnsville, North Carolina Description
Burnsville is a small town located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina. It is situated in Yancey County, and is the county seat. The population of Burnsville is 1,719 people, according to the 2010 census.
The town was founded in 1832 and named after Captain Otway Burns, a Revolutionary War hero who fought at the Battle of Kings Mountain. The town has a rich history and was once home to several prominent families such as the McDowells, Wilsons, and Youngs.
Burnsville is known for its outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, fishing, and kayaking. There are several trails in the area that offer stunning views of the surrounding mountains.
