Benson, North Carolina Description
Benson, North Carolina is a small town located in Johnston County, about 30 miles south of Raleigh. It has a population of around 3,500 people and is known for its friendly atmosphere and rural charm. The town was founded in 1855 and named after the Benson family who were among the first settlers.
The town is home to several historic sites including the Benson Historic District, which includes many buildings from the late 19th century. There are also several parks and recreational areas such as the Benson Town Park, which features a playground, picnic area, and walking trails.
The downtown area of Benson is filled with unique shops and restaurants that offer everything from antiques to local produce. There are also several festivals throughout the year such as the Benson Mule Days Festival in May and the Benson Christmas Parade in December.
Benson is also home to several educational institutions including Johnston Community College and Campbell University's School of Law. The town is served by two major highways: US Highway 301 and Interstate 95. It is also close to Raleigh-Durham International Airport, making it easy to travel to other parts of North Carolina or beyond.
