Great Falls, Montana is a city located in Cascade County, Montana. It is the third largest city in the state and has a population of around 58,000 people. The city is situated on the Missouri River and is surrounded by mountains and rolling hills.
The city was founded in 1883 by Paris Gibson, who named it after the five waterfalls that are located nearby. Great Falls is known for its beautiful scenery and outdoor activities such as fishing, camping, hiking, biking, rafting, kayaking and more. The city also has a vibrant arts scene with several galleries and museums to explore.
The economy of Great Falls is largely based on agriculture and manufacturing. The city has several large employers including Malmstrom Air Force Base, Benefis Health System, Pacific Steel & Recycling and Simms Fishing Products. There are also many small businesses that contribute to the local economy.
Great Falls has a variety of attractions for visitors to enjoy including Giant Springs State Park which features a natural spring with crystal clear water; Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center which offers interactive exhibits about the famous explorers; C.M Russell Museum which showcases art from Charles M Russell; and the Great Falls Farmers Market which offers locally grown produce every Saturday morning during summer months.
Great Falls also offers plenty of entertainment options such as live music venues, movie theaters, bowling alleys and more. The city also hosts several annual events such as the Montana State Fair in July/August; Electric City Water Park in June/July; International Festival of Cultures in August; and Christmas Stroll in December.
