Wyandotte, Michigan Description
Wyandotte, MI is a small city located in Wayne County, Michigan. It is situated on the Detroit River and is part of the Downriver area. Wyandotte has a population of approximately 25,000 people and covers an area of 4.5 square miles.
The city was founded in 1854 by French-Canadian fur traders and was originally known as Wyandot Village. The name was changed to Wyandotte in 1866 when it became an incorporated village. In 1922, Wyandotte became a city.
Wyandotte is home to many historic buildings and sites including the Wyandotte Museum, which houses artifacts from the city's past. The city also has several parks including Bishop Park, which features a playground, picnic areas, and walking trails; and Memorial Park which includes a swimming pool, tennis courts, baseball fields, and basketball courts.
The economy of Wyandotte is largely based on manufacturing with many automotive parts suppliers located in the area. There are also several retail stores located in downtown Wyandotte including antique shops and specialty stores.
