Van, Michigan is a small village located in the southwestern corner of Van Buren County. It is situated on the banks of the Paw Paw River and is surrounded by rolling hills and lush farmland. The village has a population of just over 500 people and covers an area of 0.6 square miles.

Van was founded in 1837 by settlers from New York State who were looking for a place to settle down and start a new life. The village was named after one of its founders, John Van Valkenburg, who had served in the War of 1812.
