Oxford, Michigan Description
Oxford, Michigan is a small city located in Oakland County, about 40 miles north of Detroit. It is home to approximately 4,000 people and is known for its quaint downtown area and historic buildings.
The city was founded in 1819 by Elijah Wilcox and was originally called Oxford Village. The name was changed to Oxford in 1837 when it became an incorporated village. The city has grown steadily since then and now covers an area of 3.5 square miles.
Oxford is home to several parks, including the Oxford Community Park which features a playground, picnic areas, walking trails, and a pond. There are also several golf courses in the area, including the Oxford Hills Golf Course which offers 18 holes of championship golfing.
The downtown area of Oxford is filled with unique shops and restaurants that offer something for everyone. There are also several art galleries and museums that showcase local artwork and history. The city also hosts many festivals throughout the year such as the annual Summerfest celebration which features live music, food vendors, carnival rides, and more!
