Jackson, Michigan is a city located in the south-central region of the state. It is the county seat of Jackson County and is situated along the Grand River. The city has a population of 33,534 people and covers an area of approximately 17 square miles.
The city was founded in 1829 by Horace Blackman and was named after President Andrew Jackson. It quickly grew to become an important industrial center due to its location on the Grand River and its proximity to Detroit. The city has a rich history that includes being home to several major manufacturing companies such as Michigan Central Railroad, Michigan Wheel Company, and Clark Equipment Company.
