Frederick, MD, USA is a city located in the northern part of Maryland. It is situated in Frederick County and is the county seat. The city has a population of approximately 70,000 people and is part of the Washington-Arlington-Alexandria metropolitan area.

The city was founded in 1745 by German settlers and was named after Frederick Calvert, 6th Baron Baltimore. It has a rich history that includes being an important stop on the National Road during the 19th century and being home to several Civil War battles.

Today, Frederick is known for its vibrant downtown area which features many shops, restaurants, galleries, and other attractions. The city also hosts several festivals throughout the year such as the Great Frederick Fair and Oktoberfest. There are also numerous parks and outdoor activities available including hiking trails, biking paths, fishing spots, golf courses, and more.
