Brockton, MA is a city located in Plymouth County, Massachusetts. It is the seventh largest city in the state and is part of the Greater Boston metropolitan area. Brockton has a population of approximately 95,000 people and covers an area of 21.6 square miles.

Brockton was first settled in 1649 and was officially incorporated as a town in 1821. The city was named after Isaac Brock, a British general who fought during the War of 1812. Throughout its history, Brockton has been known for its shoe manufacturing industry, which began in the late 19th century and continued until the mid-20th century. Today, Brockton is home to several major employers including Good Samaritan Medical Center, Signature Healthcare, and Amazon Fulfillment Center.

Brockton is home to several parks and recreational areas including D.W. Field Park, which features walking trails, picnic areas, playgrounds, and a golf course; Westgate Mall; and Massasoit State Park which offers camping sites and hiking trails. The city also has several cultural attractions such as Fuller Craft Museum which showcases contemporary craft art from around the world; Brockton Symphony Orchestra; and Fuller Memorial which houses a collection of artifacts from World War II.

Brockton is served by two major highways: Route 24 and Route 27. The city also has its own public transportation system called “The Ride” which provides bus service throughout the city as well as to nearby towns such as Abington and Whitman. Additionally, Brockton is served by two commuter rail lines: MBTA Commuter Rail’s Middleborough/Lakeville Line and Providence/Stoughton Line which both provide service to Boston’s South Station.
