Shepherdsville, Kentucky Description
Shepherdsville is a small city located in Bullitt County, Kentucky, United States. It is situated along the Salt River and is part of the Louisville metropolitan area. The population was 11,222 at the 2010 census.
Shepherdsville is known for its historic downtown district, which features a variety of shops and restaurants. The city also has several parks and recreational areas, including the Shepherdsville City Park and the Bullitt County Fairgrounds.
The city was founded in 1793 by William Shepherd, who named it after himself. It was incorporated as a city in 1848. Since then, Shepherdsville has grown to become an important economic center in the region. The city's economy is largely based on manufacturing and retail trade. Major employers include Amazon Fulfillment Center, Walmart Distribution Center, and UPS Freight Hub.
Shepherdsville is served by two school districts: Bullitt County Public Schools and Greater Clark County Schools. There are several private schools in the area as well. Higher education opportunities are available at nearby universities such as University of Louisville and Bellarmine University.
The city has a humid subtropical climate with hot summers and mild winters. Average temperatures range from 40°F (4°C) in January to 85°F (29°C) in July. Rainfall averages around 45 inches (114 cm) per year with snowfall averaging around 5 inches (13 cm).
