Rathdrum, Idaho Description
Rathdrum is a small city located in the northern part of Idaho, USA. It is situated in Kootenai County and is part of the Coeur d'Alene metropolitan area. The city has a population of around 4,000 people and covers an area of about 5.5 square miles.
The city was founded in 1883 by William H. Rathdrum, who named it after his hometown in Ireland. The city has grown steadily since then and now serves as a hub for the surrounding rural communities.
Rathdrum is known for its beautiful scenery and outdoor activities such as fishing, hunting, camping, hiking, biking, and skiing. There are several lakes nearby including Twin Lakes, Hauser Lake, and Spirit Lake which offer excellent fishing opportunities. The nearby Coeur d'Alene National Forest provides plenty of opportunities for outdoor recreation as well.
The city also offers a variety of shopping and dining options with several restaurants and stores located downtown. There are also several parks throughout the city including Rathdrum City Park which features a playground, picnic areas, basketball courts, tennis courts, and more.
Rathdrum is served by two school districts: Lakeland Joint School District #272 and Kootenai Joint School District #271. Both districts offer excellent educational opportunities for students from kindergarten through 12th grade. In addition to public schools there are also several private schools located in the area including St Joseph's Catholic School and North Idaho Christian School.
Overall Rathdrum is a great place to live with plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy as well as shopping and dining options available downtown. It's also conveniently located near larger cities such as Spokane WA or Coeur d'Alene ID making it easy to access other amenities or attractions if desired.
