Lewiston, Idaho is a city located in the north central part of the state, at the confluence of the Snake and Clearwater Rivers. It is the county seat of Nez Perce County and the second-largest city in Idaho. The population was 31,894 at the 2010 census, up from 30,904 in 2000.

Lewiston is located along U.S. Route 95, which connects it to Grangeville to the south and Clarkston, Washington to the north. The city is situated on a broad plain at an elevation of 738 feet (225 m) above sea level. The surrounding area is largely agricultural with wheat fields and orchards dominating much of the landscape.

The climate in Lewiston is generally mild with hot summers and cold winters. Average temperatures range from a low of 28°F (-2°C) in January to a high of 90°F (32°C) in July. Annual precipitation averages around 15 inches (380 mm). Snowfall can be significant during winter months but usually melts quickly due to warm Chinook winds that blow down from Canada's Rocky Mountains.

Lewiston has a vibrant downtown area with many shops and restaurants as well as several parks and recreational areas including Hells Gate State Park located just outside of town on the Snake River. The city also hosts several annual events such as Lewiston Round Up Days, an outdoor rodeo held each summer; Dogwood Festival, an arts and crafts fair held each spring; and Christmas on Main Street, a holiday celebration held each December featuring caroling, live music performances, food vendors, and more.
