Idaho State Information
Idaho is a state in the northwestern region of the United States. It is bordered by Montana to the east, Wyoming to the east and northeast, Nevada and Utah to the south, and Washington and Oregon to the west. Idaho is the 14th largest state in terms of land area, covering 83,574 square miles (216,440 km2). The state's population was estimated at 1.7 million in 2019.
Idaho is known for its rugged terrain and natural beauty. The Rocky Mountains run through the northern part of the state, while the Snake River winds through its southern portion. The state is home to numerous national parks and forests, including Yellowstone National Park, Grand Teton National Park, and Sawtooth National Forest.
The climate in Idaho varies greatly depending on location. In general, summers are hot and dry while winters are cold and snowy. The average temperature in January is around 28°F (-2°C) while July averages around 79°F (26°C).
Idaho's economy is largely based on agriculture, with potatoes being one of its most important crops. Other major industries include lumber production, food processing, electronics manufacturing, and tourism. Boise is the state capital and largest city in Idaho. Other major cities include Coeur d'Alene, Idaho Falls, Pocatello, Twin Falls, and Lewiston.
