Winder, Georgia Description
Winder, Georgia is a small city located in Barrow County, about 50 miles northeast of Atlanta. It is the county seat and has a population of around 15,000 people. The city was founded in 1869 and named after John Winder, an early settler.
The city is known for its historic downtown area which features many old buildings and homes from the 19th century. There are also several parks and recreational areas including Fort Yargo State Park, which offers camping, fishing, swimming, hiking trails and more.
The economy of Winder is largely based on agriculture and manufacturing. The city is home to several large companies such as Kubota Manufacturing of America Corporation and Georgia Pacific Corporation. There are also many small businesses in the area that provide goods and services to the local community.
Winder has a humid subtropical climate with hot summers and mild winters. The average annual temperature is around 68 degrees Fahrenheit (20 degrees Celsius).
