Thomaston, Georgia Description
Thomaston, Georgia is a small city located in Upson County, about an hour south of Atlanta. It is the county seat and has a population of around 9,000 people. The city was founded in 1825 and named after General Jett Thomas, who fought in the War of 1812.
The city is known for its historic downtown area, which features many old buildings from the 19th century. There are several antique stores and restaurants located here as well as a few museums. The Thomaston-Upson County Museum showcases local history and artifacts from the area.
