Roswell, Georgia Description
Roswell, GA is a city located in northern Fulton County, Georgia, United States. It is an affluent suburb of Atlanta and part of the Atlanta Metropolitan Area. The population was 88,346 as of the 2019 census estimate.
Roswell is known for its historic downtown area, which features a variety of shops and restaurants. The city also has several parks and recreational areas, including Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area and Big Creek Park. Roswell is home to several annual festivals and events, such as the Roswell Arts Festival and the Roswell Beer Festival.
The city was founded in 1839 by Roswell King, who named it after his father's middle name. It was incorporated as a town in 1854 and later became a city in 1932. During the Civil War, it served as the site of a major battle between Union and Confederate forces.
Today, Roswell is home to many businesses and corporations, including Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company and Northrop Grumman Corporation. It also has several educational institutions, such as Georgia State University-Perimeter College at Roswell Campus and Chattahoochee Technical College-North Fulton Campus.
