Rome, Georgia is a city located in the northwestern part of the state, about 70 miles northwest of Atlanta. It is the county seat of Floyd County and has a population of 36,303 as of 2019. Rome is known for its historic downtown area, which features a variety of shops, restaurants, and attractions. The city also boasts several parks and recreational areas, including Ridge Ferry Park on the banks of the Oostanaula River.

Rome is home to several educational institutions, including Berry College, Shorter University, and Georgia Northwestern Technical College. The city also hosts a number of annual events such as the Rome International Film Festival and the Rome Braves baseball team.

The downtown area features many historic buildings from the 19th century such as City Hall and St. Peter's Episcopal Church. There are also several museums in town such as the Chieftains Museum & Major Ridge Home and Oak Hill & The Martha Berry Museum. Other attractions include Myrtle Hill Cemetery and Clock Tower Square Shopping Center.

Rome has a humid subtropical climate with hot summers and mild winters. Average temperatures range from lows in the mid-30s in winter to highs in the mid-90s during summer months. The city receives an average annual rainfall of 48 inches per year with snowfall occurring occasionally during winter months.
