Oxford, Georgia Description

Oxford, Georgia is a small city located in Newton County, about 40 miles east of Atlanta. It is a charming town with a population of just over 2,000 people. The city is known for its historic downtown area, which features many old buildings and homes that have been preserved and restored.

The downtown area is home to many unique shops and restaurants, as well as the Oxford Historic Courthouse. This courthouse was built in 1883 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The courthouse square also hosts several festivals throughout the year, including the annual Oxford Peach Festival in June.

Oxford is also home to several parks and recreational areas, such as the Oxford Lake Park and the Oxford Recreation Center. The lake park offers fishing, boating, swimming, and other outdoor activities while the recreation center has basketball courts, tennis courts, a playground, and more.

Oxford is also home to several educational institutions including Emory University at Oxford College and Oxford College of Emory University. These two schools offer undergraduate degrees in liberal arts and sciences as well as graduate programs in business administration and nursing.
