Macon, Georgia is a city located in the central part of the state, approximately 85 miles south of Atlanta. It is the county seat of Bibb County and has a population of around 155,000 people. The city is known for its rich history and culture, as well as its vibrant music scene.

The downtown area of Macon is home to many historic buildings and landmarks, including the Hay House, a National Historic Landmark built in 1855. The Tubman African American Museum is also located downtown and features exhibits on African American history and culture. Other attractions include the Ocmulgee National Monument, which preserves ancient Native American earthworks; the Georgia Music Hall of Fame; and the Allman Brothers Band Museum at The Big House.

Macon is also home to several colleges and universities, including Mercer University, Wesleyan College, Central Georgia Technical College, and Macon State College. There are also numerous parks throughout the city that offer recreational activities such as hiking trails, playgrounds, picnic areas, and sports fields.

The city has a thriving arts scene with several galleries and performance venues such as The Grand Opera House and Cox Capitol Theatre. There are also many festivals held throughout the year that celebrate Macon's unique culture such as International Cherry Blossom Festival in March/April; Bragg Jam Music & Arts Festival in July; Macon Film Festival in August; Ocmulgee Indian Celebration in October; and Christmas Made in the South in November/December.
