Lithonia, Georgia is a city located in DeKalb County, just east of Atlanta. It is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area and has a population of around 2,000 people. The city was founded in 1842 and named after the Greek word for “stone” due to its abundance of granite quarries.
The city is known for its natural beauty and outdoor recreation opportunities. There are several parks in the area, including Stonecrest Park, which features a lake, walking trails, and picnic areas. The Arabia Mountain National Heritage Area is also nearby and offers hiking trails, biking paths, and scenic views.
