Lithia Springs is a small city located in Douglas County, Georgia, United States. It is situated just 20 miles west of Atlanta and is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. The city has a population of approximately 15,000 people and covers an area of 8.2 square miles.
The city was founded in 1838 by settlers from South Carolina who named it after the nearby Lithia Springs, which were believed to have healing properties. The springs are still open to the public today and are a popular tourist attraction.
The city has a humid subtropical climate with hot summers and mild winters. Average temperatures range from the mid-50s in winter to the mid-80s in summer. Rainfall averages around 50 inches per year, with most occurring during the summer months.
Lithia Springs is home to several parks and recreational areas including Sweetwater Creek State Park, which offers camping, fishing, hiking trails, and more. There are also several golf courses in the area as well as shopping centers and restaurants.
