Jefferson, Georgia Description
Jefferson, Georgia is a small city located in Jackson County, about 50 miles northeast of Atlanta. It is the county seat and has a population of just over 9,000 people. The city was founded in 1806 and named after Thomas Jefferson, the third President of the United States.
The city is known for its historic downtown area, which features many old buildings and homes that have been preserved from the 19th century. There are also several parks and recreational areas in the city, including a golf course and a lake. The downtown area also features several restaurants and shops.
The economy of Jefferson is largely based on agriculture, with many farms located in the surrounding area. There are also several manufacturing companies located in the city as well as some retail stores.
