Columbus, Georgia is a city located in the western part of the state, along the banks of the Chattahoochee River. It is the second-largest city in Georgia and the third-largest metropolitan area in the state. The city is home to Fort Benning, one of the largest military installations in the United States.
Columbus has a humid subtropical climate with hot summers and mild winters. The average annual temperature is around 64°F (18°C). The city experiences an average of 48 inches (122 cm) of rain per year.
The city has a population of over 200,000 people and is known for its diverse culture and vibrant economy. Columbus is home to several universities, including Columbus State University, Troy University, and Auburn University at Montgomery. It also has a thriving arts scene with numerous galleries, museums, theaters, and music venues.
The downtown area features many historic buildings as well as modern shopping centers and restaurants. There are also several parks located throughout the city that offer recreational activities such as hiking trails, biking paths, playgrounds, and picnic areas.
