Cedartown, Georgia Description
Cedartown is a small city located in the northwest corner of Georgia, USA. It is situated in Polk County and is part of the larger Atlanta metropolitan area. The city has a population of approximately 9,500 people and covers an area of 8.3 square miles.
Cedartown was founded in 1836 and was named after the abundance of cedar trees that were found in the area at the time. The city has a rich history and was once home to many prominent figures such as former president Jimmy Carter, who grew up in nearby Plains, GA.
The city is known for its historic downtown district which features many unique shops, restaurants, and other attractions. There are also several parks located throughout the city including Cedar Creek Park which offers hiking trails, picnic areas, and a playground.
The economy of Cedartown is largely based on manufacturing with several large companies having operations in the area such as Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company and Mohawk Industries. The city also has a vibrant arts scene with several galleries and performance venues located throughout town.
