Brunswick, Georgia Description
Brunswick is a city located in the southeastern corner of the U.S. state of Georgia, on the Atlantic coast. It is the county seat of Glynn County and is part of the Brunswick, Georgia Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 15,383 at the 2010 census.
Brunswick is a coastal city with a rich history and culture. It was founded in 1771 by James Oglethorpe, who named it after Brunswick-Lüneburg in Germany, his ancestral home. The city has been an important port since its founding and has served as a major shipping hub for centuries. Today, it is home to several industries including shipbuilding, paper production, and tourism.
The city's downtown area features historic buildings such as City Hall and St. Mark's Episcopal Church, which were built in the late 19th century.
