Austell, Georgia Description
Austell, Georgia is a small city located in Cobb County, just 20 miles northwest of Atlanta. It is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area and has a population of 6,581 as of the 2010 census. The city was founded in 1885 and named after General Alfred Austell, a prominent railroad executive.
The city is home to several parks and recreational areas, including Sweetwater Creek State Park, which offers hiking trails, fishing spots, and camping sites. The Silver Comet Trail runs through Austell and provides an excellent opportunity for biking or walking. The city also has several golf courses and country clubs for those looking to hit the links.
The downtown area of Austell features a variety of shops and restaurants that cater to both locals and visitors alike. There are also several historic sites in the area such as the Old Austell Cemetery which dates back to 1885.
