Zephyrhills, Florida Description
Zephyrhills, FL is a small city located in Pasco County, Florida. It is situated about 25 miles northeast of Tampa and is part of the Tampa Bay Area. The city has a population of approximately 14,000 people and covers an area of 8.2 square miles.
The city was founded in 1910 by Captain Harold B. Jeffries and was originally named Abbot Station after his wife's maiden name. In 1914, the name was changed to Zephyrhills after the nearby Zephyrhills Springs which were known for their healing properties.
The city has a humid subtropical climate with hot summers and mild winters. The average temperature in July is around 90°F while the average temperature in January is around 60°F. The area receives an average of 48 inches of rain per year with most of it falling during the summer months.
Zephyrhills is home to several parks including Zephyr Park, which features a playground, picnic areas, walking trails, and a lake for fishing and boating activities. There are also several golf courses in the area as well as numerous shopping centers and restaurants. The city also hosts several annual events such as the Zephyrhills Festival of Flight Air Show and the Zephyrhills Street Festival & Car Show.
