Winter Park, FL is a vibrant city located in Orange County, just north of Orlando. It is known for its beautiful parks, lakes, and historic downtown area. The city has a population of about 30,000 people and is home to Rollins College and Full Sail University.
The city is filled with lush green spaces, including Central Park which features a large lake and walking trails. There are also several smaller parks throughout the city that offer playgrounds, picnic areas, and sports fields. The Winter Park Chain of Lakes includes Lake Virginia, Lake Maitland, Lake Osceola, and Lake Mizell. These lakes are popular for fishing, boating, kayaking, and other water activities.
The downtown area of Winter Park is full of unique shops and restaurants. Park Avenue is the main street in the downtown area and it features upscale boutiques as well as local favorites like Peterbrooke Chocolatier and 4 Rivers Smokehouse. The Hannibal Square Heritage Center offers a glimpse into the history of Winter Park’s African American community with exhibits on local civil rights leaders and businesses.
Winter Park also hosts several annual events such as the Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival which showcases works from over 200 artists from around the world each March. The Winter Park Jazz Festival takes place each April with performances from local jazz musicians as well as national acts. In December there is an annual Christmas parade that features floats from local businesses and organizations as well as marching bands from nearby schools.
Overall Winter Park offers something for everyone with its beautiful parks, lakeside activities, unique shops and restaurants in the downtown area, plus plenty of cultural events throughout the year!
