Wellington, Florida Description
Wellington, FL is a village located in Palm Beach County, Florida. It is situated near the western edge of the county and is part of the Miami metropolitan area. Wellington is known for its equestrian community and is home to the International Polo Club Palm Beach, which hosts polo tournaments throughout the year. The village has a population of approximately 64,000 people and covers an area of 31 square miles.
The village was founded in 1959 by Charles Oliver Wellington and was incorporated in 1995. It has grown rapidly since then and now boasts a vibrant economy with many businesses, shops, restaurants, and entertainment venues. The village also has several parks and recreational areas including Wellington Community Park, Village Park, Tiger Shark Cove Park, and Panther Run Park.
Wellington is served by two public school districts: Palm Beach County School District and Royal Palm Beach School District. There are also several private schools in the area as well as higher education institutions such as Florida Atlantic University's John D. MacArthur Campus and Palm Beach State College's Lake Worth Campus.
The village has a humid subtropical climate with hot summers and mild winters. Average temperatures range from 70°F (21°C) to 90°F (32°C). The average annual rainfall is around 54 inches (137 cm).
Wellington offers many activities for residents to enjoy including golfing at one of its many courses, shopping at the Mall at Wellington Green or one of its many boutiques, or visiting one of its many cultural attractions such as the South Florida Science Center & Aquarium or Lion Country Safari. There are also plenty of outdoor activities such as biking along one of its trails or kayaking on Lake Wellington.
