Tavares, FL is a small city located in Lake County, Florida. It is situated on the banks of Lake Dora and is known as the "Seaplane City" due to its many seaplane bases. The city has a population of approximately 14,000 people and covers an area of 8.5 square miles.
Tavares is home to many attractions such as the Wooton Park, which features a playground, picnic areas, and a boat ramp. The Tavares Seaplane Base offers scenic flights over the lake and surrounding area. The nearby Dora Canal provides opportunities for fishing and boating activities.
The city also boasts several shopping centers, restaurants, and other businesses that cater to both locals and visitors alike. There are several parks in the area including Venetian Gardens Park which features a beachfront boardwalk with views of Lake Dora. Other attractions include the Tavares Historical Museum which showcases artifacts from the city's past as well as an art gallery featuring local artists' work.
