Tallahassee, Florida Description
Tallahassee is the capital of Florida and the county seat of Leon County. It is located in the panhandle region of the state, about halfway between Pensacola and Jacksonville. The city has a population of over 190,000 people and covers an area of about 100 square miles.
Tallahassee is home to two major universities: Florida State University and Florida A&M University. The city also has several museums, including the Museum of Florida History, the Tallahassee Museum of Art, and the Mary Brogan Museum of Art & Science.
The city has a humid subtropical climate with hot summers and mild winters. Average temperatures range from lows in the mid-30s in winter to highs in the mid-90s in summer. Rainfall is abundant throughout the year, with an average annual precipitation of around 54 inches.
Tallahassee offers plenty of outdoor activities for visitors to enjoy. There are numerous parks and trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding, as well as lakes for fishing and boating. The city also has several golf courses for those looking to hit a few rounds.
The downtown area features many restaurants, bars, shops, galleries, theaters, and other attractions that make it a great place to explore on foot or by bike. There are also several festivals held throughout the year that celebrate local culture and history.
