Pembroke, FL is a small town located in the southeastern corner of the state of Florida. It is situated in the heart of the Florida Panhandle, just north of Pensacola and south of Panama City. The town has a population of around 1,500 people and covers an area of approximately 2.5 square miles.
The town was founded in 1883 by settlers from Georgia and Alabama who were looking for a place to settle down and start their own farms. The town was named after Pembroke, Georgia, which was the hometown of one of the original settlers.
The town is known for its beautiful scenery and outdoor activities such as fishing, hunting, camping, hiking, biking, and bird watching. There are several parks located within the city limits including Pembroke Park which features a playground and picnic area as well as a nature trail that winds through the woods. The nearby Blackwater River State Forest offers visitors plenty of opportunities to explore nature with its many trails and waterways.
The downtown area is home to several restaurants, shops, and businesses that cater to both locals and visitors alike. There are also several churches located throughout the city that offer services for those looking for spiritual guidance or fellowship.
Pembroke is also home to several annual events such as the Pembroke Arts Festival which takes place each spring featuring local artists displaying their work in various mediums such as painting, sculpture, photography, jewelry making, pottery making and more. The Pembroke Watermelon Festival takes place each summer celebrating all things watermelon with live music performances from local bands as well as food vendors selling watermelon-themed treats like ice cream sundaes topped with watermelon slices!
