Longwood, Florida Description
Longwood, Florida is a small city located in Seminole County, just north of Orlando. It is part of the Orlando-Kissimmee-Sanford Metropolitan Statistical Area and has a population of around 14,000 people. The city was founded in 1882 and was originally called Long Pond due to its proximity to a large pond.
Longwood is known for its historic downtown area which features many old buildings that have been preserved and restored. The downtown area also includes several restaurants, shops, and galleries. There are also several parks in the city including the Longwood Community Park which features a playground, picnic areas, and walking trails.
The city is home to several educational institutions including Seminole State College of Florida and Rollins College. It also has a number of medical facilities such as Florida Hospital Altamonte Springs and Central Florida Regional Hospital.
Longwood is known for its annual events such as the Longwood Art Festival which takes place every April and features local artists displaying their work. The city also hosts an annual Christmas parade each December which draws thousands of visitors from all over Central Florida.
