Lake Mary, FL, USA is a small city located in Seminole County, Florida. It is part of the Orlando-Kissimmee-Sanford Metropolitan Statistical Area and is situated just north of the city of Sanford. The city has a population of approximately 13,000 people and covers an area of 8.5 square miles.
The city was founded in 1885 by Mary Bronson and named after her. It was originally a small farming community but has since grown into a thriving suburban area with many businesses and attractions. The city is known for its excellent schools, parks, and recreational activities.
The climate in Lake Mary is subtropical with hot summers and mild winters. Average temperatures range from the mid-60s to the mid-80s during the summer months and from the mid-40s to the mid-60s during the winter months. The area receives an average of 50 inches of rain per year with most precipitation occurring during the summer months.
The economy in Lake Mary is largely based on tourism, retail, healthcare, finance, education, and technology industries. Major employers include AdventHealth Lake Mary Hospital, Central Florida Regional Hospital, Verizon Wireless, Bank of America Financial Center, and Siemens Corporation. There are also several shopping centers located throughout the city including Colonial Town Park Shopping Center and Seminole Towne Center Mall which offer a variety of stores for residents to shop at.
Lake Mary offers many recreational activities for residents to enjoy such as golfing at Timacuan Golf Club or fishing at Lake Monroe Park or Lake Jesup Park. There are also several parks located throughout the city including Central Winds Park which features walking trails and picnic areas as well as playgrounds for children to enjoy. Additionally there are several museums located nearby such as The Museum of Seminole County History or The Sanford Museum & Art Gallery which offer educational exhibits about local history and culture.
