Fernandina Beach is a small city located on Amelia Island in Nassau County, Florida. It is the northernmost city on Florida's Atlantic coast and is known for its historic downtown district, beautiful beaches, and unique wildlife.
The city of Fernandina Beach has a population of around 12,000 people and covers an area of approximately 8 square miles. It is situated along the Atlantic Ocean and is bordered by the Intracoastal Waterway to the west. The downtown area of Fernandina Beach is full of historic buildings, including the Palace Saloon which dates back to 1878. There are also many shops, restaurants, galleries, and other attractions in this area.
Fernandina Beach has several beautiful beaches that are perfect for swimming, sunbathing, fishing, kayaking, and more. The most popular beach in Fernandina Beach is Main Beach Park which offers a playground for children as well as picnic areas and restrooms. Other popular beaches include Fort Clinch State Park Beach and Peters Point Beachfront Park.
The wildlife in Fernandina Beach is also quite unique with many species of birds such as ospreys, pelicans, herons, egrets, ibises, wood storks and roseate spoonbills being seen regularly in the area. There are also dolphins that can be seen swimming off the coast as well as sea turtles that nest on some of the local beaches during certain times of year.
