Eastpoint, Florida Description
Eastpoint is a small town located in Franklin County, Florida. It is situated on the Apalachicola Bay, just south of Apalachicola and about 30 miles east of Panama City. The town has a population of around 1,500 people and covers an area of 2.2 square miles.
The town was founded in 1832 and was originally known as "West Point". It was later renamed Eastpoint in 1883 when the railroad came through the area. The town has a rich history and is home to many historic buildings, including the Eastpoint Lighthouse which was built in 1837.
The town is known for its beautiful beaches, fishing, and wildlife viewing opportunities. There are several parks located within the city limits, including St. George Island State Park which offers camping, hiking trails, and beach access. The nearby Apalachicola National Forest provides additional outdoor recreation opportunities such as canoeing, kayaking, bird watching, and more.
