Dunnellon, Florida is a small town located in Marion County, about an hour southwest of Gainesville. It is situated on the banks of the Withlacoochee River and is known for its natural beauty and outdoor activities. The population of Dunnellon is approximately 2,000 people.
The town has a quaint downtown area with several unique shops and restaurants. There are also several parks and trails in the area, including Rainbow Springs State Park which features a crystal-clear spring fed river that flows through the park. The park also offers camping, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, swimming and hiking opportunities.
The climate in Dunnellon is mild year-round with temperatures rarely dropping below freezing or rising above 90 degrees Fahrenheit. Summers are usually hot and humid while winters are mild with occasional cold snaps. Rainfall is abundant throughout the year with an average of over 50 inches per year.
Dunnellon has a strong sense of community and many local events throughout the year such as the annual Christmas parade and Fourth of July fireworks show. There are also several festivals held throughout the year such as the Dunnellon Bluegrass Festival and the Dunnellon Arts & Crafts Festival.
