Deltona, FL is a city located in Volusia County, Florida. It is situated on the northern shore of Lake Monroe and is part of the Orlando-Kissimmee-Sanford Metropolitan Statistical Area. Deltona is known for its beautiful natural scenery and its proximity to many popular attractions in Central Florida.
The city was founded in 1962 and has grown to become one of the largest cities in Volusia County with a population of over 85,000 people. The city has a humid subtropical climate with hot summers and mild winters.
Deltona offers a variety of recreational activities for residents and visitors alike. There are several parks located throughout the city including Lyonia Preserve, Gemini Springs Park, and Deltona Regional Park. These parks offer hiking trails, picnic areas, playgrounds, fishing spots, and more. The city also has several golf courses including Deltona Hills Golf & Country Club and Deltona Lakes Golf & Country Club.
The city also offers plenty of shopping opportunities with two major malls – West Volusia Town Center and Volusia Mall – as well as numerous smaller shopping centers throughout the area. There are also several restaurants offering a variety of cuisines from Italian to Mexican to Chinese.
Deltona is home to several educational institutions including Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Daytona State College, Stetson University College of Law, Bethune-Cookman University, and Daytona International Speedway College Program. The city also has an active arts scene with several galleries showcasing local artists’ work as well as performing arts venues such as the Athens Theatre and Peabody Auditorium.
