Bushnell, Florida is a small town located in Sumter County, Florida. It is situated about an hour and a half northwest of Orlando and two hours northeast of Tampa. The population of Bushnell is approximately 2,000 people.
The town was founded in 1883 by Captain J.B. Bushnell, who named it after himself. It was originally a farming community and the main crops were cotton and citrus fruits. Today, Bushnell is still primarily an agricultural area with many farms and ranches in the surrounding area.
The town has several parks including the Sumter County Fairgrounds, which hosts events such as rodeos and festivals throughout the year. There are also several lakes nearby for fishing and boating activities. The Withlacoochee State Trail runs through Bushnell, providing miles of biking and hiking trails for outdoor enthusiasts to explore.
Bushnell has a few restaurants, shops, and other businesses that serve the local community as well as visitors from out of town.
