Staples, Connecticut is a small town located in Fairfield County, Connecticut. It is situated on the banks of the Saugatuck River and is part of the Bridgeport-Stamford-Norwalk Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town has a population of approximately 1,400 people and covers an area of 2.3 square miles.

The town was founded in 1790 and named after Horace Staples, who was a prominent local landowner at the time. Staples is known for its rural charm and picturesque scenery, with rolling hills, lush forests, and winding roads that lead to quaint villages. The town also boasts several historic sites such as the Staples High School (built in 1876), the Staples Congregational Church (built in 1845), and the Staples Town Hall (built in 1871).

The town offers a variety of recreational activities for residents and visitors alike. There are several parks located throughout Staples including Indian Ledge Park which features walking trails, picnic areas, playgrounds, and a pond; Compo Beach Park which offers swimming, fishing, boating, and other water activities; and Longshore Golf Course which offers an 18-hole championship golf course. Other attractions include the Westport Historical Society Museum which houses artifacts from local history; the Westport Arts Center which showcases art exhibitions; and Sherwood Island State Park which provides beach access as well as hiking trails.

Staples is also home to several businesses including restaurants, retail stores, banks, medical offices, professional services firms, auto repair shops, gas stations, convenience stores, pharmacies and more. The town also has its own post office as well as public library. In addition to these amenities there are also several churches located throughout Staples including St John's Episcopal Church (built in 1790) and St Paul's Lutheran Church (built in 1867).
