Keystone, Colorado Description
Keystone, Colorado is a small mountain town located in Summit County, just west of the Continental Divide. It is situated at the base of the Rocky Mountains and is surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery in the state. The town has a population of about 1,000 people and is known for its outdoor activities such as skiing, snowboarding, hiking, biking, fishing, and camping.
The town was founded in 1881 by prospectors who were searching for gold and silver. Today it is home to two ski resorts: Keystone Resort and Arapahoe Basin Ski Area. Both resorts offer a variety of terrain for all levels of skiers and snowboarders. In addition to skiing and snowboarding, Keystone also offers a variety of other activities such as ice skating, tubing, snowmobiling, dog sledding, sleigh rides, snowshoeing, and more.
In addition to its outdoor activities, Keystone also offers a variety of restaurants and shops that cater to tourists as well as locals. There are several art galleries in town that feature local artists’ work as well as several boutiques that sell unique items from around the world.
Keystone is also home to several events throughout the year including an annual Oktoberfest celebration in September/October; an annual Bluegrass Festival in June; an annual Wine & Jazz Festival in July; an annual Chili Cook-Off in August; and an annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony in December.
Overall Keystone is a great place to visit if you’re looking for outdoor adventure or just want to relax and take in some beautiful scenery.
