Elizabeth, Colorado Description

Elizabeth, Colorado is a small town located in Elbert County, about 30 miles southeast of Denver. It is situated at the base of the Rocky Mountains and has a population of just over 2,000 people. The town is known for its rural charm and friendly atmosphere.

The town was founded in 1859 by settlers from Ohio and named after Elizabeth Boggs, the daughter of one of the original settlers. The town has grown steadily since then and now boasts a variety of businesses, including restaurants, shops, and services.

The town is home to several parks and recreational areas, including Elizabeth Lake Park which offers fishing, boating, camping, hiking trails and more. There are also several golf courses in the area as well as horseback riding trails.

Elizabeth is also home to several historical sites such as the Elbert County Courthouse which was built in 1881 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The town also hosts an annual rodeo every summer that draws visitors from all over Colorado.

Elizabeth has a small-town feel with plenty to do for residents and visitors alike. From outdoor activities to shopping and dining options, there’s something for everyone in this charming mountain community.
