Tracy, California Description
Tracy, California is a city located in San Joaquin County, about 50 miles east of San Francisco. It is part of the Bay Area and has a population of around 90,000 people. The city was founded in 1878 and was named after railroad official Lathrop J. Tracy.
The climate in Tracy is mild and sunny with temperatures ranging from the mid-50s to the mid-90s during the summer months. The city experiences an average of 17 inches of rain per year, making it one of the driest cities in California.
Tracy is home to several parks and recreational areas including Central Park, Lincoln Park, and West Valley Mall. There are also several golf courses in the area as well as a variety of shopping centers and restaurants. The city also has a vibrant arts scene with several galleries and performance venues.
The economy in Tracy is largely based on agriculture, manufacturing, retail trade, and services. Major employers include Amazon Fulfillment Center, Walmart Distribution Center, and Sutter Tracy Community Hospital. The city also has a thriving business community with many small businesses located throughout the area.
Tracy is served by two school districts: Tracy Unified School District and Mountain House School District. There are also several private schools located within the city limits as well as two community colleges: San Joaquin Delta College and University of Phoenix - Tracy Campus.
