Mountain View, California is a city located in the San Francisco Bay Area of Northern California. It is situated in Santa Clara County and is bordered by Palo Alto, Los Altos, Sunnyvale, and Moffett Field. The city has a population of approximately 80,000 people and is home to many tech companies such as Google, LinkedIn, Symantec, Intuit, and Mozilla.
Mountain View has a Mediterranean climate with mild winters and warm summers. The average temperature ranges from the mid-50s to the mid-70s throughout the year. The city receives an average of 17 inches of rain per year.
The downtown area of Mountain View features a variety of restaurants, shops, and entertainment venues. Castro Street is the main street in downtown Mountain View and features many restaurants and stores. The Shoreline Amphitheatre is located near downtown Mountain View and hosts concerts throughout the year.
The city also has several parks including Rengstorff Park which features a lake with paddle boats for rent as well as picnic areas and playgrounds. Stevens Creek Trail runs through Mountain View and offers scenic views of the surrounding area as well as access to nearby cities such as Palo Alto and Los Altos Hills.
Mountain View also has several museums including the Computer History Museum which showcases the history of computing technology from its earliest days to present day innovations. The Lace Museum showcases lace making techniques from around the world while the Moffett Field Historical Society Museum displays artifacts related to Moffett Field's history as an airfield during World War II.
