Highlands, California Description
Highland, California is a small city located in San Bernardino County, about 60 miles east of Los Angeles. It is situated at the base of the San Bernardino Mountains and has a population of around 53,000 people. The city was founded in 1891 and was originally known as "Little Scotland" due to its high concentration of Scottish immigrants.
Highland is home to many attractions, including the San Manuel Indian Bingo & Casino, which is one of the largest casinos in California. The city also boasts several parks and recreational areas, such as the Highland Community Park and the Highland Little League Park. There are also several golf courses in the area, including the Redlands Country Club and the Yucaipa Valley Golf Course.
The city has a variety of shopping options, from small boutiques to large chain stores. There are also several restaurants offering a variety of cuisines from around the world. The city also hosts several annual events such as Highland Days and Highland Fling Festival.
Highland is served by two school districts: Redlands Unified School District and San Bernardino City Unified School District. The city also has two colleges: Crafton Hills College and University of Redlands.
