California City is a city located in the Mojave Desert of Kern County, California. It is the third largest city in the state and the largest city in Kern County. The population was 14,120 at the 2010 census, up from 8,385 at the 2000 census.

California City is located at the northern edge of the Mojave Desert, approximately 100 miles northeast of Los Angeles and 150 miles south of Death Valley National Park.
