Wittmann, Arizona is a small unincorporated community located in Maricopa County, Arizona. It is situated about 40 miles northwest of Phoenix and is part of the Phoenix metropolitan area. The town has a population of approximately 1,000 people and covers an area of about 5 square miles.
The town was founded in 1878 by German immigrant John Wittmann and his family. It was originally called Wittmannsville but was later changed to Wittmann. The town has remained relatively unchanged since its founding and still retains much of its original charm.
The town is home to several businesses including a post office, a gas station, a grocery store, and several restaurants. There are also several churches in the area including the First Baptist Church of Wittmann and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The town is surrounded by beautiful desert scenery with rolling hills and mountains in the distance. There are also several recreational activities available such as hiking, camping, fishing, hunting, horseback riding, and off-roading. The nearby Agua Fria National Monument offers visitors an opportunity to explore ancient Native American ruins as well as stunning views of the surrounding landscape.
