Sun City, Arizona is a census-designated place located in Maricopa County, Arizona. It is a retirement community located about 25 miles northwest of downtown Phoenix. Sun City was the first 55+ active adult community in the United States and was developed by Del Webb in 1960. The community has two golf courses, seven recreation centers, and numerous clubs and activities for its residents.
Sun City has a population of approximately 38,000 people and covers an area of about 13 square miles. The median age of the population is 72 years old and the median household income is $37,000. The climate in Sun City is hot and dry with temperatures ranging from the mid-90s during the summer months to the mid-60s during the winter months.
The city offers a variety of amenities for its residents including shopping centers, restaurants, parks, libraries, churches, medical facilities, and more. There are also several recreational activities available such as golfing at one of the two golf courses or swimming at one of the seven recreation centers. Sun City also hosts many events throughout the year such as art shows, concerts, festivals, and more.
